Bruce Township “Special Meeting” on 1/4

Jan 4, 2012 by

If you haven’t heard, and we almost didn’t (because Clerk Brockmann doesn’t send us notifications, just the Observer & Source), Bruce Township has scheduled a “Special Meeting” on January 4th at 5PM.

Here is the agenda:

A G E N D A
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
BRUCE TOWNSHIP BOARD
**WEDNESDAY **
JANUARY 4, 2012
5:00 P.M

1. Roll Call
2. Pledge of Allegiance
3. Unfinished Business

a. Fire Department EMS Services contract for Almont Township
b. Liquor Licenses

4. Adjournment

** Interesting Note: It looks like Bruce Township was actually awarded an extra Liquor License back in November, but nobody knew about it. Now it looks like they have two (Item B is plural in the agenda), which would mean they would be able to give both new businesses a license. The “interesting” part is how the board is going to give Times Square a license after spending a year, trying to figure out a poor excuse NOT to give them one. **

Thank-you all for keeping us informed about this issue. Times Square more than deserves a liquor license.

Bigger question might be why is their a need for a special meeting? The regular meeting is scheduled for the 18th (only 2 weeeks away). Seems to me that the agenda items deserve the discussion of a regular meeting, where more people can attend.

Probably for the same reason that the Police Millage was pushed through for a February election instead of the August Primary or November General election.

The fewer people who know what goes on over at Bruce Township, the easier it is for them to bully their way thru to get what they want…how about the constant changing of the agenda’s before each meeting so that some board members are left unprepared and in the dark when being asked to vote on things?
