I don’t understand the $15 entry fee. Seems like it might deter some creative people from entering.

      Hi Carl:
As a member of the logo contest committee, I wanted to respond to your question regarding the $15 fee. The 175th Anniversary Committee is working on a shoestring budget to put together activities and events to celebrate this special occasion and benefit the village and residents as much as possible. We wanted to be able to offer the winning artist a cash prize but didn’t feel we had enough money in the budget to fund that. After talking with a few artists who have participated in other contests, we learned that paying a nominal entry fee was not unusual. Therefore, we decided to charge one so we could fund the cash prize (albeit, a modest one). Any money left over from the entry fees after funding the prize will be allocated toward the overall budget for the event.
