Tignanelli Comments on Police Union Lawsuit
We came across this article in the Macomb Daily. Sterling Heights police command officers sue city.
Jim Tignanelli is the Bruce Township Supervisor and also the President of the Michigan Police Officers Association. The Sterling Heights Police Command Officers are suing the city because they believe an arbitrator erred in a recent ruling that went against the union.
Bruce Township is currently researching options for and holding meetings on a proposed new millage for Police Protection in Bruce.
Bruce Township Police Millage Meetings.
Please comment below on your desires for future police coverage in Bruce Township. The best way to be heard is at the public meetings and through your local press.
We hope to see you at the meetings and welcome any comments you submit.

So much for agreeing in your contract to abide by an arbitator’s decision.
I’m certain that Jim was able to put aside his responsibility to the POAM and the endorsement he received from the Macomb County Sheriffs while running for supervisor, during the development and subsequent voting on the township proposal for a police millage. Conflict of interest, heck no!
Please vote NO on the millage.
Ignore the part in the following article where he says “That I can be trusted to reduce their taxes…”, he has.

POAM – Business Agent
POAM – President
Bruce Township – Supervisor
Sounds like a lot to have on your plate, when a community is going through a tough time economically.

It’s a sad state of affairs when the residents of Bruce Township are asked to pay more taxes when people have lost their jobs, are under water with their homes, foreclosures lurking in the background, etc. I clicked on the “story link” in the comment above and question what Jim Tignanelli is doing to “keep the tax burden off of the backs of the residents”. It appears his full time job with the Police Officers Association of Michigan may keep him too busy to give the residents of Bruce Township his full attention, or perhaps considerably less time than he appears to give the POAM and their law suits. I’m also concerned as to a possible conflict of interest on this matter. I believe the POAM would benefit financially should Bruce Twp. residents approve the Police Millage. Now, that’s an interesting thought! Would this be taking from the people he serves and giving it to his “special interest” group? Furthermore, officers hired to serve in Bruce Township (if the millage is approved) would be paying monthly POAM dues, hence lining the coffers from which Jim Tignanelli receives full time compensation. Where is his real allegiance?

The State of Michigan and Oakland County cut funding for police protection in Macomb County directly affecting Bruce Township
Taxpayers receive no reduction in the amount of taxes they pay, rather they are asked by the Bruce Township Chief Assessor James Tignanelli, to pay more taxes as their property assessments go up in an unfair, unrealistic assessment process that did not consider foreclosed properties as comps. (tell that to your realtor!)
Bruce Township wants YOU to pick up the slack by creating a NEW TAX and paying the County for police protection.
Feel like you are being taken for a ride by the State, County and by your township supervisor, who is the President of the Police Officers Association, James Tignanelli … YOU ARE!
NO NEW TAXES IN BRUCE TOWNSHIP

NO NEW TAXES IN BRUCE TOWNSHIP
Here is what Bruce Township Residents can expect with Mr. Tignanelli working as head of Police Officers Club President AND the Township Supervisor.
He will try to move the Township offices over to the area of the courthouse on 33 Mile Rd., spending lots of money doing that one.
He will continue to push for “police protections” on a rural township that needs nothing more than what they have at the moment (crime is next-to-nothing and people already feel safe, but who cares). Bruce needs a cop shop attached to the new Bruce Township headquarters on 33 Mile Road.
There is continued expansion of DETROIT City water, which the previous supervisor kept away from Bruce for decades. Welcome to water fees and hikes that will stagger the imagination.
Tignanelli will expand Parks and Rec to include a new park at the northwest quadrant of the Township with headquarters (you guessed it) in the new Township Building on 33 Mile Rd.
As long as Bruce residents let this guy run away with these “fledgling ideas,” they will continue to live with the costs associated with a whole new City of Bruce.
Want Bruce Township to stay rural? Vote this guy out of that seat – yesterday!
And you better show up to vote in February on this “protection” scam, or you will be forking out a bunch more money on your tax bills.
