Unforgotten
Unforgotten
Drifting lightly upon crosswinds of melancholy,
toward the darkening reflective night.
Imagine a billion stars as glowing keyholes,
segments of experience, unfocused time.
Past, as a rain of sparks upon arthritic nerves,
insight to when life felt genesis.
Yesterday in mist gently touching as feathered down around me,
prickle of cool fog swirling in attempts to grasp.
A thought away from its’ corrosive image,
descending to separate rumination from recognition.
Now pause just long enough to sense the dull sting of remembrance,
a sorrowful whisper that trickles down my face.
Evaporating from the contact of curious finger tips,
a brief kiss of tarnished sensitivity.
Here in one instance to find, another to bind
a memory true.
To recall at all,
a feeling once new to know once, again.
Sensing the warmth of this light
I can remember you.
